Once Upon an Eid: Stories of Hope and Joy by 15 Muslim Voices by S.K. Ali, Aisha Saeed

4.0

That was so heartwarming! This book is filled with all kinds of Eid celebration and as a Muslim myself, it's so accurate and I immediately can relate to all the kids in the stories! My personal favorites are Kareem Means "Generous", Just Like Chest Armor, and Searching for Blue.

Some stories will make you so annoyed at these 12 years old kids, but hey, they're kids! They act exactly like one, and I'm sure 12yo me was as annoying as them lol. Some stories were heartwrenching because there are cruel things happening in this world, but a little bit of Eid happiness can sooth the broken hearts. I especially love Bassem's story because it gave me a much needed slap in the face when I started pitying myself even though I practically lack nothing
