Like I said before, it's a bad trainwreck I can't look away from. I can explain myself here, though: I've had this book, the second book in the series, from my library’s Overdrive for almost exactly three weeks now. It’s due for return tomorrow and, unlike other library items, if it’s an Overdrive item, you can’t just hang onto it and pay the late fees; once your time is up, your time is up. So, yesterday, when I got the first book - before I knew what a dumpster fire these books were - I marathoned through that first book as quickly as possible, which was literally double the speed of the audiobook’s original speed. Once I finished that first book and discovered just how big a pile of shit it was, I was unsure if I wanted to even waste my time with this one.

After scrolling through the choices I had loaded onto my phone and my Audible and taking into account my rental period of this book ended tomorrow, I decided the answer was yes. Yes, I wanted to waste my time with this one.

There isn’t much else to say here that I didn’t already say in my review of book one, but there are a couple of things from there that I was confused about that I only became more confused about in this book.

First the worst: I’m so confused. What happened? Why did the things happen the way they did? How did this make it past copy edits? Did it get copy edits? The sad state of this "novel’s" "plot" certainly makes me wonder.

The second is why in god’s name does everyone in this series blow chunks so often? It was almost as if my complaint about it in the first book was heard and was somehow retroactively heard. Hell, the book practically opens with Rayna just ralphing all over Toraf and, later, Toraf does the technicolor yawn SO. MANY. TIMES. during and after a plane flight. Fucking A. Absolutely hilarious.

Still unintentionally hilarious. I’ll probably read the third one if I get it on Overdrive because these are entertaining in all the wrong ways. So bad it’s good. Goddamn. Like wow.
