My Summary: Briana's life is falling apart at the seams. With her brother struggling to find a kidney donor and her divorce becoming finalized any day now, it feels as though work is the only good thing going for her. Suddenly, a new doctor, Jacob, is threatening to take the promotion she wanted, so Briana turns the animosity she feels about her own life toward him. But after some awkward and volatile interactions, Jacob writes Briana a letter that just might change her first impression of him. It shows Briana that Jacob might actually be a really good human being who doesn't deserve her wrath. In fact, he might be worthy of a pretty large favor.
My Thoughts: Yours Truly is such a well-written novel with a fantastic love story! It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me want to hold my loved ones closer.
Briana and Jacob seem to be polar opposites, but that's what really brings them together. They seem to understand each other in a way no one else has before. Even when they start to fake date, you just know as a reader that it was always real. Briana's extroversion brings out Jacob's playful side, despite his social anxiety, and Jacob's realism brings Briana back down to earth. They're truly a match made in heaven.
Of all three books in the Part of Your World trilogy, I think this might be my favorite. Abby Jimenez did a great job depicting social anxiety and the real world impact it can have on every aspect of your life. I found pieces of myself in both Briana and Jacob, and I loved how seen they made me feel.
