The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan
4.25
adventurous tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

There is a definite shift in tone in this book from the fun, lighthearted adventures of a young boy to the much more serious notion of a world on the brink of war. Death is suddenly a very real thing that our characters are facing and Riordan leans more heavily into the wrong-mindedness that has lead Olympus to this point. While I could do without the love triangle, this is probably my favorite book in the series, mostly due to how much larger Annabeth's role is in this story.
