It was hard for me to read this book let alone keep my eyes open long enough to get through a paragraph. I despise war books, I think that that they bring up unnecessary pain and suffering while also glorifying the wars that have killed thousands. It upset me in a way that was not provoking deeper thought, more like I wanted to never pick up this book again. Nothing about it was interesting, I've read graphic books before but this made me so uncomfortable I had to put the book down for a couple days. When I finished the book I didn't have a more insightful understanding of the First Nations peoples contribution to the war. If I could DNF this book I would, however the only reason I read this monstrosity was because it was a required reading for my English class. Nothing could've prepared me for the mental turmoil this book would put me through nor could I have enjoyed this book anymore if I was somehow prepared. I would've loved to read books similar to those we had access to in the prior year of English, however our only options were boring ass war books that would bore me to death either way. I went with the lesser of two evils, it was awful I don't recommend and I will not willing think or read this book again for the rest of my life.
