The Dark Days Deceit by Alison Goodman

5.0

A great, intriguing and suspenseful ending for this trilogy! I had guessed what the twist reveal was going to be by the end of book 2, but I really enjoyed watching and waiting for the build up to that reveal in this one, anxious to see how Helen would react and how she would overcome it. The finale was appropriately explosive and dramatic in the way I was hoping.

Some spoilery quibbles:
SpoilerI wish that Helen and Carlston could have spent a bit more time together, as they were forever kept apart or put in situations where they couldn't speak freely to each other etc. Like that's great for prolonging angst and tension, and it's great for romances in general! But I think the ending at least could've used more scenes where they got to be together-together - once that had happened the book was abruptly over so I barely got to enjoy their happiness. But... I hear there's a possibility of the series continuing meaning we'll get to enjoy them being together as a couple? I hope.
