Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia

3.0

2-1/2 stars...I’m rounding up because there was potential here.

The entire time I was reading this book, I kept feeling like something was missing while simultaneously feeling overwhelmed by all the information the book was throwing at me. I read another review that said this book had too many ingredients to make a good recipe and I wholeheartedly agree.

There were too many characters that you didn’t get to know well enough. Particularly Tuesday Mooney who was a conundrum to me. She had angst yet she also had family who loved her and her missing best friend (even if she was hearing her ghost speak to her) did not seem enough to make her so standoffish with those who cared about her. Plus every other character was carrying some demon or load from their past and it was all just too much.

I also didn’t find the scavenger hunt to be very exciting. The pacing of it was slow, there didn’t seem to be much competition and I am still not sure what was supposed to be the end game.

This is a book where the last page left me wanting more and get also needing this book to be so much less. The writing was good (not great) but it just wasn’t enough to redeem this for me.
