This book destroyed my heart! My head is still swimming with thoughts - processing, so I’m going to bullet point this:
• SO MANY TRIGGERS! : Rape, abuse and abortion! Very graphic - very painful to read.
• The characters held a lot of depth and were intirely unique to what I have read before. Victims turned to survivors and the strength they carry afterwards is actually tragecially beautiful. A metamorphosis.
• Thank goodness for the few good men mentioned in the book - Was beginning to think that the Weyward women were just cursed to endure evil men.
• A strong perspective of what women have endured of centuries. Sadly, not much has changed - however I believe we have enough good and morally sound people to help women in abusive circumstances today. This book really touches on the raw emotions from the perspective of the survivor and the circumstances surrounding their choices. This wasn’t just a novel - it was so much more than that.
Deeply moved.
