American Daughter: A Memoir of Intergenerational Trauma, a Mother's Dark Secrets, and a Daughter's Quest for Redemption by Stephanie Thornton Plymale
2.0
The dialog was clunky and not very believable---when will writers understand that no one says the name of the person they're talking to like five times in every conversation??? The overall structure of the story just didn't work, and would have been much better told chronologically. The device of having a current event remind you of a story from your past got old quickly and felt forced. And honestly, the bad writing made the entire story feel unbelievable.
