I "avoided" (though that's not quite the right word) this book for so long. It was so popular last year with everyone praising how amazing it was. And while I didn't doubt that it was a good book, there was just nothing in the summary that got my interest. Then a few days ago pushing to complete a reading challenge I finally picked up this title. And yes, it is as good as everyone said it was. Brit Bennett's writing skill blew me away, its not often I come across books this well written. Her style is also very approachable. It's not overly lyrical, but also not lacking in impactful and artistic quality. The characters and story in this book are guaranteed to stick with you long after you've read it. It's a powerful and deeply human story that you won't regret reading.
