This was an interesting book. Fast-paced, mysterious with some good characters. Sure there were some problems with it, but I am far beyond the target audience. Overall it was fairly decent for the first book in a series, but I'm not sure I'll continue with the series.

The first part of the book was the most interesting to me. That was when things were shrouded in mystery, when the book dealt with the struggle for identity. The subject of adoption was touched upon quite a lot. I think that if the book continued in that vein, it would've been just fine. But then the mystery was revealed.

And honestly, in itself there's nothing wrong with a story about time-travel. It was interesting how this book used time-travel, but the usual problems cropped up as well. One of the characters even thought through the problems one might face when messing with time. I honestly wish that this story went in a different direction. Maybe the children were aliens, or even something more simplistic like the smuggling ring.

Still, it's a quick read and younger readers will probably enjoy it.
