The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
4.5
This book has a similar structure to The Four Winds because has time jumps and spans over a decade. Alaska is the perfect back drop to highlight everything in this book. I really enjoyed it, and I think Kristin Hannah does a great job of giving us a window into a time and place and just has a way of telling one person's story that highlights so much of the setting at that time. This story touches on so many hard topics and they are handled well in how they are portrayed and discussed as is common in her writing. I do wish there was time in the story to go even deeper into some of these topics, but this story really did feel like a glimpse into Leni's story. I wanted to know everything going on in each character so even if there was more it probably wouldn't have been enough for me. I connected with these characters and there were definitely tears. This was not my favorite book by her, but it is definitely up there.
