A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson

informative inspiring lighthearted reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

I found this book to be more a history of science, than a history of everything. As well as describing the science, Bryson gives you the personalities and oddities and strange little links that bind it all together.
In classic Bryson manner it is both funny and charming, lighthearted but leaves your brain whirring. The end points about climate change and extinction seem now more prescient than ever and I'd recommend this book to anyone, whether you already know the science or not.
