This book was a real challenge to get through. It took me an awfully long time. I think I enjoyed it more after I read some analysis of the characters and themes; maybe because I'm not insightful enough to properly appreciate them alone.

I really loved the characters of the Rampions, and my favourite bit was the flashback to when they were younger. I also got a lot more into it right in the last 20% when there was actually some plot that started to happen!
