Counting Thyme
by Melanie Conklin
First sentence: When someone tells you your little brother might die, you’re quick to agree to anything.
Counting Thyme absolutely blew me away. This book is gem. It’s refreshing, beautiful, painful, and whimsical all rolled into one terrific story.
Counting Thyme centers around a girl named Thyme who moves to NYC with her family after he little brother is diagnosed with cancer. The family moves to the city so he can take part in a drug trial.
During this time Thyme is trying to figure herself out. She goes through some self-discovery during the book. Conklin captured the personality of Thyme perfectly. She’s sassy, smart, and has a heart of gold. She stood out to me. I absolutely adored her.
Counting Thyme is bursting with love, bravery, hope, and heart. Conklin is a wonderful author who I can’t wait to read more from because this was one stellar debut.
RECOMMENDED TO:
Everyone who likes realistic Middle Grade.
