Waiting for Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey

5.0

I enjoyed this Kerry Winfrey book, just like I’ve enjoyed her other books. Something about her characters and plots has me thinking about them when I’m not reading and waiting until I can open up my book again.
I loved that this book was set in Columbus Ohio and that she included so many references (The Guardtower, Book Loft, Pistachia Vera, etc.)
I complained to my husband as I read this book about how the main character could be selfish and dense sometimes. I described some of the cheesy rom com acts that she did, especially at the end, and Nate rolled his eyes. He asked me, “Did you like it?” and I replied “Oh yeah, it was great!” I could overlook the cheesiness or character flaw because I liked so much more of the book.
I wish Annie had taken more agency sooner, like figuring out earlier that she had a say in the relationship and could make her own decisions.
I also wish that Annie had a texting mishap earlier in the book to set up a later more major texting mishap. Like she didn’t seem like a clumsy texter until that one crucial moment.
