Wild Things by Laura Kay

5.0

Incredibly funny in that subdued, British way and El is lovely and such a sweetheart with her efforts to have a Wild Year calendar and do something that challenges her every month. The results are genuinely funny and El is a really easy person to like as a character.

The main storyline is about four friends deciding to create a commune by buying a house together in the country and the whole thing is absolutely ideal and hilarious and lovely, from the Vampire chickens (don't ask), to the hashtag farmlyfe thirst traps on Insta, to the lovely and welcoming locals.

If you're looking for a cozy queer read with a main character trying to break out of what she feels is a life rut, a bunch of friends deciding to leave city life and live together in a commune, some organically funny turns and a happy ending, this is the book for you.
