The Baby Dragon Café
by A.T. Qureshi
Saphira has finally realised her dream, and opened The Baby Dragon Cafe: the only establishment in town to allow rowdy and troublesome baby dragons within. Despite being surrounded by baby dragons, she still yearns for a baby dragon of her own. When Aiden appears at her door with Sparky, she is given a chance to train her own little dragon.
This was an incredibly cute story. The baby dragons were precious, even troublesome little Sparky. The cafe was cosy and gorgeously described - exactly somewhere I could imagine myself. I liked Aiden and Saphira; Saphira was a particularly strong character.
I found the overall writing style such a struggle though. I didn't feel there was any real depth. The romance progressed way too fast - almost instalove and it just didn't feel believable. As much as I liked the characters, their romance just felt flat.
I found the writing really simplistic. I struggled to stay engaged. I was told three times in as many pages that Sparky was the last egg from Aiden's late brother's dragon - the same thing was explained repeatedly throughout the book. So much of the narrative felt unnecessary.
I really wish I had enjoyed this more. It was certainly cute and cosy, but I feel like it could have been so much more.
