I wasn't as invested in this book as I originally thought I would be.  The beginning half of the book is nothing special and filled with very little to me.
I like the character interactions nonetheless and they feel genuine though and that's what kept me going.

I can't say I'm hooked but other people have mentioned that the first in the series is a little hard to get through so I'll at least follow through until the next book which people say is the best of the series. Maybe I'm just as interested in this protagonist? Maybe the book was too overhyped on tiktok?

I'll see what the next book has in store for me and if it's good,  I'll come back to edit my comment on this one.

(Maybe the audiobook is easier to listen to? I love crescent cities audiobooks very much!!)

And so I have come back! I love and adore the next book in the series. It definitely picks up the story and was worth it to read the first one in its entirety. There's so much going on and in this book so much is revealed.  I adore this world and I recommend everyone to push through to the next!
