A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
by Betty Smith
This book contains one of the funniest scenes I have ever read/watched/heard/etc. (Christmas tree story at the end of Chapter 26).
Was not expecting to laugh out loud as much as I did, considering the time period and subject matter. Betty’s writing is sharp and hilarious and made even the smallest interactions between characters feel so rich.
