Well, joke's on me for thinking that Gibsie & Claire's book was gonna be a fun, relaxing, light-hearted romp after all the trauma with the Lynch family, because Taming 7 had me SOBBING (and I love it all the more for it)!!
Now, even though my big, beautiful eeijt Gibsie has been my no. 1 from the moment I met him in Binding 13, I was honestly a bit scared that spending an entire book in his chaotic headspace would get a bit too much, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Getting to dive into his backstory and see the tender, gentle, broken boy that's hiding behind his jovial prankster facade was both so endearing and so gutwrenching, and I honestly wanted to hug him the entire way through this emotional rollercoaster of a book.
And honestly, I didn't even care that the friends-to-lovers romance wasn't the strongest aspect of this book, because I just ADORE Claire & Gibsie together no matter what label they give their dynamic. They definitely aren't perfect and they probably could have handled some sensitive situations a lot better, but then these loveable drama queens also made my heart smile so much with all their silly, goofy and they really surprised me with their emotionally vulnerable moments together.
Also, I think Taming 7 has the best friendship/found family vibes of the series so far, and especially Johnny & Gibsie's bromance was absolute perfection. I mean, if my best friend doesn't support and show up for me like Johnny does for Gibsie, then I don't want that friendship... sorry not sorry.
Somehow, Taming 7 is both the most laugh- and cry-out-loud book of the series so far for me, and I am keeping all my toes and fingers crossed we get a follow-up on Claire & Gibsie's story, because girlie needs to take accountability for her (unintentionally) harmful and unhinged actions/mistakes at the end of this book and my precious boy deserves more happiness and healing.
But first we're gonna have to tackle Releasing 10, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, because it's Team Gibsie all the way through for me right now. That said, Walsh hasn't let me down yet, so here's to hoping Lizzie's story will be one of understanding and redemption. Bring it onnn!
