Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner

challenging emotional reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

Absolutely incredible exploration of Zauner's relationship with her mother, her grief, her mixed race identity and more. I have not lost a parent but her fears of losing her Korean culture following the death of her mother are deeply haunting and relatable. The descriptions of food are incredible, hunger inducing, and so real. Just an excellent book all around, and a wonderful memorialization of a brilliant woman by her brilliant daughter. Thank you for sharing your story as well as your music, Michelle.
