When I read on Amazon that this book will be an "instant modern classic" I was like "yeah right - yada, yada, yada." I take it back! This should be an instant modern classic, it deserves a place alongside "Animal Farm" and "A Brave New World".

This was an absolutely astonishing novel - the most conceptually challenging and philosophical book I have read in years. I was utterly and completely taken aback by the revelations at the end of the book. I did not see ANY of it coming. When I finally saw, when the whole story went topsy-turvy, my jaw dropped. At exactly that moment the seat belt sign in the airplane went on and I had to put my kindle away. Not a bad thing, I got to consider a few facts and my own blindness before turning back to have the last twist slap across my face. WOW. That hurt. I might never recover.

Anaximander is about to start a four hour examination to get into "the Acedemy" that runs the post-apocalyptic society in which she lives. She has gotten to pick a subject and she has chosen Adam, a person who was the cause of much evil by his rebelliousness. The truth of history is revealed, little by little.

This book might be short, but exremely effective. It does not need to be any longer. It will stay with me a long time, and there are ideas presented that will need to be considered again and again. A highly recommendable book to anyone who likes to challenge their own world view.
