Making a Scene by Constance Wu

5.0

I loved this!! Every single story Constance chose to include was intentional, beautifully-written, and so, so heartfelt. You can tell she has really put her heart on her sleeve in writing this book and that she's being so authentically HERSELF, after decades of being afraid to say what she feels and allowing other people's perceptions of her to dictate the way she lives her life.

I really loved that this was a collection of essays, and pieces of her life deliberately included because they mean something special to her, instead of a linear telling of her life so far. And her words have encouraged me to live more true to myself, even if feeling everything I feel and expressing those big emotions can make me seem uncool, desperate, or "too much."

I'm so glad I read this <3
