If I hadn’t known the hype around this book I probably would’ve liked it more. The book takes you through the early adulthood stages when you’re still figuring things out. The main characters have a lot of communication errors and a slightly dysfunctional relationship. It showed beautifully how people can change over the years and how some people grow apart or stay a constant in someone’s lives. It als shows how abused people take abuse as a form of love. I really didn’t know where this book was going but I liked going on the journey of it. The writing is beautiful.

A small thing that I had to get used to was the lack of quotation marks. It made it more difficult to follow spoken conversations vs thoughts. But it didn’t stand in the way of following the story.
