I'm so glad I was able to finish this! It took me months to get back to its pages but once I started, it was like I never left.
What is it about? Emmett has now completed the cruel tests Babel put him up to and now he's on his way to Eden to mine Nyxia for them. Things are never as simple as people hope them to be which doesn't bode well for Emmett and his crew. They learn Babel and Adamites have very different agendas that will leave Emmett and his team fighting battles they didn't sign up for.
What I thought? Scott writes such a complex story with characters to match. He narrates their trauma and journey so well that I feel for all of them. I love seeing each character grow and work together to complete the impossible. My only issue is that the Adamites seem too human. They are an alien race, so they should have different ideals and practices. However, when Emmett and his team make it to their city, it felt too much like Earth. Maybe that was the point, but I wanted something a little different.
In short: Everything is awesome, except that the Adamites seemed too human.
