Little Star by John Ajvide Lindqvist
4.0

i don’t even know how i managed to get through this book when i read this a few years back. little star is an insane, psychological thriller which spirals around the story of two girls: theres and teresa. i really liked the beginning and the whole mystery, suspenseful mood. a mysterious baby dumped in the chilly woods with a pitch-perfect voice? interesting. theres, jerry, lennart and laila’s story pulled me in deeply, i enjoyed reading up on the backstories of each individual character. but i eventually found it slightly irrelevant when the storyline turned out to not be a linear one which was quite a bummer.

contrary to popular belief, i enjoyed teresa’s story much more as compared to theres’ one. this was a far more cruel and realistic story, it really delved deeply onto how a once perfectly normal girl turned into a quiet, murdering lone wolf that was created and shaped by the world. the amount of grisly, gory details and the eventual formation of the pack of wolves are wonderful, the parts of torture is excellent. top notch descriptions. not to mention, an epic ending.

a part of me feels like rating it a 3 star despite of everything i’ve written, i just felt some parts could have been shaped better and some parts should have just been removed. but for now, 4 stars because of teresa’s part.
