Talia Lavin writes an incredible, and often sickening, memoir about her deep dive into the dark world of white supremecy, incels, and antisemitism on the internet. She creates new identities, researches the best way to appear believable and she actively engages with the deplorables in the chatrooms, message boards, and dating sites that exist for this group of people. She is brave, she is thick skinned, and she is eye opening.
I agreed to do a buddy read of this book with a friend of mine and knew what I was getting myself into, or so I thought. Holy buckets, I lost count of the times I had to walk away from this book to breathe or scream. I was consistently saying outloud "wait a minute, did you know about this?!" This one was hard to read, but I think it is so important that people read it. It's been too long that this subgroup of people have been able to go about their lives without being outed and the conversation needs to happen.
