The Stand by Stephen King

4.0

Yay I finished!!

I don't even know how to begin to review this book! It was long and I thought parts of it definitely dragged on, and I DEF was out there reading chapter summaries for a few in the middle. I can see why there was an abridged version. But overall I thought it was great! The characters were so flushed out and developed and I liked all the different stories and elements going on. My favorite was the iconic dog hero Kojak obviously!!!!

I loved the beginning bits where the virus was just setting in and the setup of all that. absolutely wild it was great. The middle bits were the parts that dragged more, especially when it was the ridiculously long chapters about characters I didn't like as much or care about sorry!! But then it really picked back up toward the end in the third book and I thought it finished strong.

Normally when I finish a book I wanna go and watch any movies/shows that were based on it but honestly I don't know if I would really want to watch an adaptation of this. I just don't know how they would do it justice. And apparently they didn't because the current series is sitting at a 5.5 rating on IMDb lmao. Those casting choices seem...interesting...

anyways yeah I liked it. Don't know if I'll be running to read another book this long again anytime soon because it took me almost 2 months with only a break in there bc I had to wait for my loan to come back from the library lol but I enjoyed it. Thank you Mr. King
