Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives by Gretchen Rubin

5.0

I loved this book. I am a fan of Gretchen Rubin's earlier two books on Happiness and I had the opportunity to see her speak about this book before I read it.

Rubin has researched the heck out of habits and shares her own experiences and anecdotes of others to explain how our personal behavioral styles affect our habits. She lays out what she has named The Four Tendencies (Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, and Rebel) to explain the motivation behind how people keep (or do not keep) to their goals.

Following that discussion she refers to other distinctions that affect an individual's habits (night owls vs. larks, marathoners vs. sprinters, and so on).

When you read her explanations of these behaviors and the examples she sets forth on why various habits stick or don't stick, it really helps you see why you may have had trouble keeping certain habits and how to reframe them in a way that works for you.

I found this book to be insightful, well-researched, and perfectly digestable.
