Read only if you want an old-fashioned pulp war novel.
Basically this plot says "The aliens are just militaristic big guys on campus with big ships and a mission to obliterate other species who figure out warp travel. The little guys (us) engage in shoot outs using conventional weapons. Heroes emerge. Love interests are present for effect."
Pulp science fiction. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because at least it was well executed enough that I finished the book instead of quitting. But I'm not gonna read the sequels.
