The Farthest Shore by Ursula K. Le Guin
4.0

This was a pretty solid fantasy novel, although I think I liked the 2nd one better, partly because I liked Tenar better than Arren. But part of it is the story and how it was affecting Arren. Magic is disappearing in their land, but perhaps more importantly, knowledge is disappearing and magic is linked to that. Arren and Sparrowhawk travel together to try to figure out what is causing it and to hopefully defeat it. I found this to be sad, and the ending leaves me in a melancholy state. I think I'm definitely going to have to read Tehanu (which was written many years after) to see what happens to Ged.
