Your Deepest Fear by David Jackson

3.0

Which is your deepest fear? This is a question that has popped to my mind a few times during the story. I would not like to be in the skin of our main character, DS Nathan Cody, he will investigate one of the worst cases in his life.
This story is a mental game between the “culprit” and detective Cody; because this is a personal case, his worst nightmare; the clowns! I know that if you are not following the series you will not know what this mean, simply they will play a dangerous game with Cody, the main question is: Who will win?
I was a little surprised with this story; is not really an investigation as I am used to read; there are two stories on this read. On one side we have the weird situation of DS Nathan Cody who after what happened in his last case, his bosses decided to make him do some therapy and office work; while he is receiving some weird calls. And on the other side we have the wife of the victim who is ready to discover the truth without the help of the police.
This book has some bloody scenes and a little hardcore, I closed my eyes a few times trying to block the pain of the victims… the “killer” doesn’t have empahty at all, let’s be honest.
I was a little bit sad about the ending, but I suppose that’s why this book is part of a series, you’ll know more in the next book. Don’t missunderstand me, the case has an ending, but not the personal situation, it’s in a perfect situation for another book to solve it!
Be prepared to face Your Deepest Fear; ready?
