This book was so good! Depressing and hard, given the casual violence of prison, but it rang true to what l I know of those systems. The writing is third person but with Carlotta’s internal monologue interspersed with no quotes so you're going in and out of her accent/word choice and she's hilarious and frustrated and vulnerable and her family is bonkers.
