Saga, Vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan
5.0
Where we last left off, our intrepid star-crossed lovers had just been joined by Marko's parents...awkward. Things get off to a rocky start as mom leaves with Marko to try to recover their ghost nanny (this story is just so fun to write about!) and dad is left with Alana, who is suspicious of him, to say the least. But luckily, their tree spaceship has got her back, and he ends up a little...tied up (pun totally intended).
Meanwhile, the unlucky in love mercenary, unlucky in that his many-legged paramour was offed in volume one, is struggling to focus on the prize. He has a neat dream sequence fake out that leads the reader to believe maybe The Stalk wasn't totally dead, but alas, their weird love was not meant to be. Instead, he is joined by Gwendolyn, the ex of Marco. She is eager to help find him for reasons that she leaves left unsaid, buuut the presumption is that a woman scorned is not a woman you want to deal with. She helps the mercenary save the Slave Girl and they discover she has a neat trait which helps them to track Marko, Alana et al, and they are on the merry way.
As this volume wraps, we find Prince Robot has made his way to the home of the author of the book that Alana is obsessed with in volume one, and the destination they have made. The Price decides to wait for their arrival, but we learn on the last page that they are already there, have been so for a while, and are upstairs, pondering their next move.
I can't wait until the next volume, but I will, so that I can read the Cannonball Read June book club pick, and drag out this awesome series juuust as long as I can.
