Poverty, by America by Matthew Desmond

4 1/2 Stars

A well-thought-out assessment of America's poverty issues and a well-presented ideas on how to improve (or, why it doesn't). Enlightening how poverty is rooted in fundamental bigotry: racism, sexism, classism, etc., which pervades most American institutions and programs. Ultimately, what we think is a "free market" --with regard to not just poverty, but everything-- is actually far from it, and current states are sustained & controlled to minimize impact and cost to a select few.
