Finding Mr. Write by Kelley Armstrong
3.0

A very mid-tier romance. Scratches the itch of a romance reader, but doesn't stray far enough from common tropes and characterizations to write home about.

It kind of irritated me that at several points, the male lead had more sense and confidence in the female lead than she did in herself, when the premise of the whole book stems from her awareness of patriarchy. Like why was the supposedly feminist lead such a naive people-pleaser? This just goes to show that most of the time when romance novels attempt to address the oppressive machinations of our world, they fail to follow through because so much of the genre depends on patriarchal gender roles. Still, I'll take this over misogynistic portrayals of women written by men any day. Even this women do better.
