Finally reread this with my book club and I took my sweet time annotating everything. I love Pacat's atmospheric writing, they really know how to set the scene. Damen is such an unreliable narrator though, so I would really appreciate to know how long Laurent's hair is and also Jord's? Obviously, my heart breaks for Nicaise and Erasmus. I love Damen's bitchy inner voice, never fails to make me laugh.

Guilty pleasure alarm!
But what a pleasure it is for my exhausted brain to be so into a book that I read it in a few hours. I did enjoy all the cunning secrets of Vere. Favourite character so far is Erasmus. I'm going to dive into book two right now, TGIF.
