The Duke's Wife by Jess Michaels
4.0
Abigail Montgomery is not eager to re-enter society after a year of mourning. Her late husband was a bigamist who had two other wives and was courting the fourth - the sister of the Duke of Gilmore. If Abigail had not anonymously intervened and involved the Duke, his sister would have been ruined. Though he saved his sister, Nathan, The Duke of Gilmore's action changed the lives of all three Montgomery wives and Abigail loathes him for it.
The story starts off a year after this incident and Abigail is forced to be civil with Nathan for the sake of their friends. It is obvious that they are both fascinated and attracted to one another. But Abigail's past makes it difficult for her to trust anyone again, especially someone she thinks she hates.
I started reading the series with the final book and though I enjoyed the story I might have connected better with the main characters if I had read the previous books. But it did not take away my enjoyment while reading the book since I can't wait to read the other two books in the series. I’m so intrigued by the side characters, who are all happily married, that I plan to read their books next and finish reading the series.
If you are looking for a lighthearted read with interesting characters, cute banter and a charming story, The Duke’s Wife is a must-read.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
