mlbalmeo 's review for:
The Things They Carried
by Tim O'Brien
Every chapter of The Things They Carried is a new adventure, a march waiting to begin. O'Brien throws the reader forward and backward in time, a technique that throws off a few of my students, but the stories are so gripping and intriguing on a human level that you feel compelled to follow. My favorite chapter is "How to Tell a True War Story," of course because it's about the power of storytelling, proving that you absolutely do not have to be a war buff to love this book.
