Throughout my time reading manga in the past year, I think I've come to realise that the slightly fantastical yet not super actioned packed and mostly just cosy and chilled vibes, are my favourites.

I am a sucker for stories where we have an older, wiser, protective father-figure who basically adopts a small helpless child who always has questions and doesn't fully understand the situation they are in. And this is exactly that but in a super fun, cosy and slightly dark way.

The world we are in has been built with exactly the right level of detail for me. We have been given the information we need to know to set the scene for the stakes at hand and for what is going to come. Yet it is still low enough that it can be built on in future volumes.

The relationship we have between Shiva and Teacher is so caring and adorable to read and I am eagerly awaiting the time I finally pick up volume 2 to see how they continue to bond.

I love the slightly creepy, dark art style in this manga and I think that Nagabe is so incredibly talented. The atmosphere they have created in this is so strong and I really feel it falling off the pages when I read this.

I really enjoyed my time with this and I am so excited to continue in this series. I just didn't get those 5-star feelings with this, which is why I settled on a 4.
