Cinco horas con Mario by Miguel Delibes

2.0

I liked the tactic of the monologue even if it was obsessive and a caricature of a Conservative Catholic Spaniard in wartime, assuming they all approved of everything Franco did. The threat of the Left was very real and it's unfair that the author presents facts in such a skewed way, with the protagonist being a hypocrite who couldn't understand that her husband was a good man, and the son explicitly telling you how to read the book at the end. I am giving it two stars only because it's well narrated, not because I agree with its ideological content, nor the idea that readers are too dumb to figure whatever the author means out.
