The Rules of Dating My Best Friend's Sister by Penelope Ward, Vi Keeland
4.0
Lanie’s brother has the best friends, a close group who are closer than family and would do anything for each other. When her brother dies, the friends make a pact to look out for LaLa. That includes when she comes to NYC on a research grant and needs a place to stay. The problem is she’s staying next door to Holden, her childhood crush, who has been in love with her since they were kids. Now he’s 28, a drummer for a popular band, and the biggest ladies man in New York, and she’s engaged.
I honestly liked this one a lot. The friends really took their commitment to their late friend seriously and look after her like their own little sister. The dynamic is super sweet. And Holden battles everything in him to respect her boundaries, even if he toes the line until it’s safe. My biggest issue with the book is that it gets to the point where they’re just having a lot of sex and the storyline disappears, but it does come back.
Tropes: Friends to Lovers, Childhood Crush, Friend’s Sibling
