(Re-Read November 2024)
I absolutely loved my time re-reading this series these last few days!! I had plans to re-read the first 2 books before Onyx Storm comes out in January! I was able to participate in "The Who did this to you"
bookclub discussion which is hosted by Toribwtweenpages! It was so fun reading peoples comments as they read the book for the first time! I definitely plan on joining in the Iron Flame discussion for December!
I was also able to use the re-read prompt on the bingo board for Winterathon hosted by Rainybluereads! And I landed on Comfort Read for Bucketlistathon hosted by DanniDabbles! Lots of readathons and fun things happening in the book world this month!
As for this re-read...I am still convinced there is crack sprinkled in between the pages of this book! All kidding aside there is something about this storyline that hooks me and doesn't let go and it happened again with this re-read. I really enjoyed my time reading this book and I was on the edge of my seat the last 3 days of reading!
The stakes are very high in this book basically from the first page...I have experienced every emotion while reading this one, love, hate, angst...etc...life and death, friendships being made etc...
I am very excited to refresh my memory with what happened in Iron Flame in December because the ending of this book was intense and I have so many questions....Honestly it left like the first time reading this book because it had been so long...and I am excited to continue in this world!!
(read June 2023)
I finally got over my fear and gave into the hype surrounding this book and it was 100% worth it! This book will definitely be in my favorite books of the year along with Serpent and the Wings of Night!
I also read this book as part of Once Upon A Readathon Treasure Island! This book attacked the dragon team since it is a dragon book!
This book was 100% up my ally! It gave me a lot of Divergent vibes which is one of my favorite books of all time! I think I have officially entered my Fantasy Romance Era and I am not sad about it! Even though school is not for me apparently I love reading books about it. Along with fighting / training to the death.
I really liked the relationship between the riders and their dragons in this book. I also liked that you also have to prove yourself before you can acquire your dragon. But most importantly the dragon chooses the rider.
I also think I liked this book so much because I am still transitioning from YA. I am a sucker for YA and this book had very similar vibes to a 2010 YA dystopian novel. They had a love triangle of childhood friends to lovers and the morally gray bad boy. -One of them betrays her can you guess who?
I loved the friendships in this book as well! I think they have a very strong foundation and I'm curious to see where a lot of these relationships are going to go!
This is a serious no one is safe school setting that is not for the faint of heart. You have to prove yourself and I think Violet beat the odds that were definitely against her and came out a really strong character. The last 100 pages of this book were a wild ride. I was on the edge of my seat with the action backed dragon battles. I did kinda see some reveals coming but for me it didn't makes it less exciting. I cannot wait for Iron Flame to come out if a few months. I think this series is a strong contender to beings the next big series in the book world. I am 100% ready for more!
