🎇Favorite Quote/sayin---
" Dark is not ugly. Get that out of your minds right now...you are both Black, and your mama taught you to hold your heads up and be proud."
" The point of root is to try and make this world a better place to live in."

🎇My Review--
This story takes place in the early1960s South Carolina, where Jim Crow is rampant. Where we encounter siblings who are twins, Jezebel & Jay Turner who after the death of their grandma, will finally learn rootwork from their uncle.
I loved the simplicity of Turners family life, the farm, the food, and thr magic of rootwork and magical creatures & the red wolf.
Yall I love the scray parts too such as the Boo-Hag & the Poppet scenes-- I truly scared myself.🙈
I loved Jezebel connections to her ancestors, the spirituality of Gullah-Geechee people, and her experience in Zar ( Heaven).
Eden Royce does a amazing job in adding historical elements. The themes discussed such as family, unusual  friendships, magic, love, forgiveness, death, and resilience was wonderful to read.
Yes-- to theCapital B for Black all through this book👏🏿

🎇My only issue --
I didn't want the story to end, I wanted more of Jay & Jez Marsh adventures 😉

I highly reccomend this book🎉
