Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand

5.0

In history classes we learned about Pearl Harbor and the atomic bomb but details about life in the Pacific and Japan at the time were never discussed. The daily life of Allied POWs in Japan during the war is something I knew nothing about so this was definitely an eye opening read for me. Parts of the book are hard to read because of the violence and torture these men endured but I was so enthralled by the story and the exceptional writing that I couldn't put it down. It is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read.
