As big of a fan I am of a:tla (and believe me, this children’s animated series is my main talking point at any hangout) I was hesitant about this book. Because I haven’t liked any of the Avatar spin-offs so far.
But… surprise! I really did like it for once!
I loved getting to see Kyoshi’s backstory and how she became one of the strongest avatars in the whole cycle. And though this particular book read a bit fan fiction-y it was still quite enjoyable.
I also loved Kyoshi’s companions; this Team Avatar was particularly amazing. All of them had their own personalities and quirks (unlike, cough, Korra’s) which made them quite loveable.
I even liked the romance… in Avatar! Who would’ve thought. I love my bisexual queen.
Again. Very fan fiction-y. But you know.
