The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz by Erik Larson

informative reflective tense medium-paced

5.0

The Splendid and The Vile had me enthralled by the oratorical prowess of Winston Churchill ("he can almost make you believe that the colour black is white", according to one of the WWII diarists), the resilience, successes, and failures of his government during the London Blitz, the personalities surrounding him during WWII, and just about anything WWII. The writing style was almost cinematic. I would highly recommend it.
