Broken Miles by Claire Kingsley
4.0
This book took me out of my reading slump! Can always count on Claire to write hilarious and relatable characters!
4⭐️2🌶️
This is a second-chance romance about a divorced couple! We got Zoe and Roland (ughhhh for the dudes name..but whatever), who were high school sweethearts and got married young. Their marriage lasted for six years, until Zoe had enough of her workaholic husband and just leaves him out of the blue.
Fast forward fours later, Roland (pause here cause the name gives me the ick🤢) has to come back home cause his dad is shady as fuck and about to financially ruin the family business, which is a winery.
Surprise twist - which we all saw coming - Zoe is working as the event manager at the winery. So obviously the two of them spend more and more time together and shit gets spicy.
Zoe is a real cool person, like I genuinely want to be besties with her. I feel like we would get in all kinds of troubles together.
Roland is the opposite. He is broody and a bit of an asshole but comes around.
While the book is a super quick read and fast paced, it gave us readers an understanding of their struggles during their previous marriage and why it didn’t work out.
I wished we got a bit more plot around their conflict and their miscommunication, but overall top read. Major points for the foreseeable plot twist on the last 10 pages.
My favorite character is hands down Cooper with his ADHD ass lol! And I soooo want him to get together with his bestie Chase. Like at this point, this should be canon.
Claire K. hasn't disappointed in the RomCom area, and while this particular book was not as hilarious as the Martini Running Club Series, it still had me lol-ing in real life. Give it a try!
