Prickle Island Zoo located in Connecticut is run by the Lachlan family. The siblings, all named after birds, work at the zoo since their father died. Book 1 follows Lark, the primate keeper and her new volunteers for the season, one of whom is the very attractive New Zealander, Logan.

From the very first minute we are introduced to Lark, with her hand shoved down a pipe cleaning out monkey poo, I knew this was going to be a fun book. I haven’t laughed this hard reading a book in years. Lark is a planner but she didn’t plan for Logan and for the next 300 pages you get a wild ride.

Ali has written a quick read that is super fun full of Kiwi-isms. Not sure that some people will get the type of humour,  as both Kiwis and Australians have a very unique sense of humour and do take the piss quite a bit but go with the flow and embrace the story. There is a handy glossary at the front for those that don’t quite get some of the phrases.

Pick this up if you like grumpy x sunshine, wildlife, forced proximity and only one bed with a twist.
